Heads up for internationalisation@home: Experiences from mainstreaming virtual exchange courses

Virtual exchange has great potential for internationalisation at universities: to facilitate the acquisition of key competences such as intercultural competence, as preparation for longer stays abroad, as part of sustainable mobility, or to increase the attractiveness of study programs. Despite the possibilities, German universities seem to lack strategic approaches that strive for virtual exchange as an integral part of study programs and as a meaningful complement to face-to-face teaching and learning.

This talk takes up this desideratum and shares learning experiences from mainstreaming virtual exchange courses in the doctoral and master's complementary courses at Leuphana University in Lüneburg. In addition to the first evaluation results, we discuss pedagogical, institutional, technical and legal conditions for anchoring internationalisation@home.

This programme item is related to a public funding by Stiftung Innovation in der Hochschullehre (StIL).
